Tradition has it that the Mississippi River name meant the "Great River" to the Chippewa Indians. A mystery to Native Americans for years was the source of the Great River. They journeyed thousands of miles by canoe along the river in pursuit of the headwaters.
All of their pursuits were strenuous and time consuming.
Today, we landed visual evidence of the source of the Great River.
And now you know why they spell it, M.I.S.S.I.S.S........I....P.P.......I, and the rest of the story!
